Satyr's Band

Satyr’s Band represents a new generation of period instrument ensembles. The group was formed in 2006 by Andreas Boehlen, recorder, Amy Power, recorder and baroque oboe, Lisa Goldberg, baroque bassoon, and Takashi Watanabe, harpsichord, who met while studying in The Hague and Amsterdam in The Netherlands. The musicians all have active performing careers across the world as soloists and in various renowned ensembles and orchestras.

Satyr’s Band presents a range of unique and carefully designed programs, combining unfamiliar jewels from different corners of the Baroque repertoire, alongside works from well-known masters. Different levels of improvisation are incorporated into their performances, adding liveliness and spontaneity to virtuosic instrumental music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The ensemble exploits all their possibilities of instrumentation fully, with ease and artistry.
